ABOUT ME

APPROACH │Open mind, warmth and respect

You as a person are the focal point of my work, as is your life’s history. Together we explore the goals which propel you forward. My approach? I devote my efforts to gain a deeper understanding of your situation. From there, we will look into several aspects of your life like your goals, your values, your needs, your meaningful connection to others and your dreams. This process happens with an open mind in a context of warmth and respect where confidentiality is guaranteed.

What can you expect from me?An honest and transparent ally who thinks alongside you. My reflections are grounded in my training and extensive therapeutic experiences gained across the years in diverse work settings.

A French Canadia with more than 15 years’ experience

I am originally from Quebec, a French-speaking province of Canada. The love that brought me to Flanders in 2014 rooted my integration into the Belgium culture.

Like everyone I have had to deal with challenges in life, and I will continue to work on myself as I face new ones. One of them is my dyslexia, which might affect my written communication but doesn’t cause any trouble for me to genuinely connect with my clients or the people around me. Acknowledgement  and respect of one’s challenges are core values in my work.

WORK EXPERIENCE │Psychologist, Sexologist and systemic therapist i.t.

I have been active in the social sector for more than 15 years, initially as an special care counselor and later as a clinical psychologist and sexologist. Since 2024, I have also been in training to become a Couples, Family, and System Therapist. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to gain experience in various settings (from kindergarten and schools to hospitals and nursing homes) in two countries (Belgium and Canada) and three different languages (Dutch, French, and English).

This has allowed me to work with a broad spectrum of individuals regarding gender, sexual orientation, age, challenges, and (cultural) backgrounds. This wide range reflects my personal interest to learn more about the richness and diversity of life experiences.

Psychotherapy and sexotherapy

Individual therapy │ Couples and family therapy

Individual therapy: at the office, online, or walking therapy.

Couples and family therapy: only at the office.

Ideally everyone involved partakes in the therapy. Couples and family therapy differs from individual therapy. In this form of therapy the therapist exchanges with family or couple where at least one person has concerns or (fore)sees challenges. The main focus are the  interpersonal processes with special attention to the connections between partners or family members and how they deal with differences between them.

Psychotherapy

Therapy is a lot like climbing a mountain. It requires effort and can sometimes be difficult or uncomfortable. You will determine the pace. It is a process of growth where your strengths and qualities will claim central attention. The therapist accompanies you on your journey. He work with you and can help prepare for tougher parts of the journey. He can sometimes carry part of your baggage with you. He will stand by you when it gets harder. He will think with you during challenges and celebrate successes with you.

Sexotherapy

Sexology Counselling, whether with individuals or couples, use a combination of psycho-education, exercises, and homework. Sometimes, it is recommended to go deeper than just treating sexuality disorders and disfunction. This can be done using psychotherapy.

Gender Care

Inclusion, wellbeing and self-acceptance

5 years of experience in a multidisciplinary Gender team

If someone has questions or experiences difficulties concerning their gender identity

If someone has questions or experiences difficulties concerning their gender identity, speaking with a therapist can be helpful. Together, we can explore your feelings, needs and examine how you experience your gender identity. In the process, it is important to take into account, among other things, your environment, broader development, relationships, life goals, level of resilience and support network.

A referral letter for medical transition

A referral letter for medical transition is not a therapeutic mandate. If your sole goal is to medically transition as quickly as possible, I am not the right match for you. A referral letter is a byproduct of a therapeutic process. I can promise to genuinely assess your situation and help you in facing an important life decision, but I can not promise that this process will automatically lead to a referral letter.

People who have already medically transitioned

People who have already medically transitioned will find in me a  gender-sensitive therapist aware of the specific issues that touch the trans community in Belgium and across the world.

Parents of gender-diverse children

Parents of gender-diverse children can consult with their questions and concerns. I do not initially see your child but can provide guidance to help you navigate in a way that feels right for you, your family and your child. According to literature, the majority of gender-diverse children do not express a desire for transition after reaching puberty. Therefore caution and a caring approach to the child’s personality and needs is essential [1] [2] [3].
